# GHG statements

> Summary of net CO₂e fluxes for a reporting period submitted for verification in expectation of credit issuance

GHG statement is a summary of net CO₂e fluxes across GHG entries for a given reporting period, submitted for verification in expectation of a credit issuance.

If a statement is verified, credits are issued by Isometric to a supplier in proportion to the total net CO₂e removal or GHG reduction value associated with the statement. A portion of credits will also be split and allocated to a buffer pool to manage the risk of reversals or unattributed project emissions.

## Creating a GHG statement

To create and submit a GHG statement:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a draft statement">
    In the GHG statements section of your project in Certify, click **Create GHG statement**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Define your statement period">
    Add a start and end date for the current statement.

    <Info>
      If you've already created GHG entries, the dates entered will define which GHG entries are automatically included in this statement: ensure that the date range covers all the GHG entries you wish to include.
    </Info>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create GHG entries">
    On the GHG entries tab of the GHG statement, click **Add GHG entry**. Learn how to create GHG entries [here](/user-guides/certify/ghg-entry).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Optionally add reporting period emissions">
    If you need to account for emissions [associated with the statement reporting period](/user-guides/certify/attribution#ghg-statement-level-attribution), that are not currently allocated to GHG entries or otherwise accounted for as [Project emissions](/user-guides/certify/project-emissions), you can add them under the **Reporting period emissions** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Optionally perform a sensitivity analysis">
    If it's the project's first GHG Statement you'll need to perform a sensitivity analysis to account for uncertainty. Go to the **Sensitivity analysis** tab and click [calculate sensitivity](/user-guides/certify/sensitivity-analysis).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Prepare your GHG statement report">
    Statement data should be accompanied by a written report for the reporting period. The report should be uploaded to a shared drive visible to your assigned verifier and Isometric team.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run data checks">
    Certify will check your data and flag issues before submission. Issues are not gating to submission, but we recommend addressing, disputing or commenting on every issue as they must be resolved before your GHG Statement is verified.

  <Step title="Submit statement">

## Amending a GHG statement

Statements can be amended after they have been submitted. Amendments may be made by the supplier independently, or in response to issues raised by Isometric or a verifier.

The following changes can be made:

* Edit existing GHG entries by clicking into them and selecting **Edit**
* Add new GHG entries by going to the GHG entries tab and selecting **Add GHG entry**
* Edit the GHG Statement dates by selecting the three dots to the right of the statement ID, and select **GHG Statement Dates**

Upon changes to the statement, a new statement version draft will be created and will need to be resubmitted. Historical statement versions are kept in order to maintain an auditable record.
On statement resubmission, a note can be provided outlining the key changes made in the new version.
